you're not behind
For anyone who feels like they’re falling behind in this world of AI, struggling to even find where to start, I may have stumbled across something helpful. I’m not going to pitch you a course or some guide on how to leverage agentic AI. But if you actually want to learn, this is what I’ve been doing lately and it’s going pretty well.
I found a pdf called “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Agentic AI: From Foundations to Systems” on Hacker News the other day. At a whopping 600 pages, it seems… overwhelming. HOWEVER, there’s a line in the intro that says the document is “written for practitioners who build things.”
Oh! That’s me!
There is a lot of knowledge in here, and it is really well structured/organised, but it is very much like reading a textbook; and I don’t know about you guys, but I’m used to having a teacher or classmates to ask questions/discuss topics with when learning. So I, had a thought - why not use AI as my teacher/classmate to learn about AI? I’ve uploaded the whole pdf to NotebookLM, and as I read, I started asking it questions; checking my understanding, expanding on the parts I only half understand, asking it to relate things back to me using everyday analogies until I get the concept and it clicks.
Honestly, I think I’ve learned more about how this stuff actually works from this one pdf than from any video, course, or report I’ve tried. And the cool part is anyone can do it; the book is free, NotebookLM is free, and you get to go at whatever pace you need.
Turns out the best way to understand AI might just be to ask AI to explain it to you. So if you’ve been feeling lost with all this, don’t be discouraged, you’re not behind, you just need the right way in.
